Ionyx Wood Coat: Lasting Protection
YEARS OF SUPERIOR PROTECTION AGAINST MOISTURE, STAINING, WEATHERING MOLD AND FUNGI.
Indoors or out, wood is affected by moisture. Wood swells when it gets wet and shrinks as it dries, whether the moisture is liquid water (like rain or dew) or water vapor in the form of high humidity. Wood becomes further degraded as it is exposed to high and low temperatures and direct sunlight. This degradation causes roughening of the surface, checking, splitting and wood cell erosion. Traditional coatings fail may to protect, cracking or peeling due to inflexibility. Strong, flexible, ultra-lightweight Ionyx T1 for Stone & Wood protects from moisture damage and stops degradation by forming a UV protective, water repellent barrier that prevents water from soaking into wood and deprives organisms that discolor and degrade wood from the water they need to survive and grow. Ionyx T1 for Stone & Wood is long-lasting, durable protection against damage that softens wood, making it susceptible to rot and pest damage that shortens the life, impairs structural integrity and mars the beauty of exterior and interior wood products.
TOUGH, DURABLE, ENVIRONMENTALLY SOUND AND FREE OF CARCINOGENS, Wood Coat forms a water repellent, covalent bond with the substrate surface, forming a uniform barrier for consistent UV and moisture protection. Easy to use: brush, spray or roll on. Easy to maintain - just rinse of wipe with a damp cloth to clean. Touch-ups on especially stressed areas can be applied on the spot with no scraping. no sanding, no hassle - T1 for Stone & Wood provides smooth, seamless uniformity. With less than 100 g/L VOC, Coatings exceed the most stringent air-quality control standards in the US and meet California Prop 65 carcinogen-free standards.
ONE-COAT LAYER, SUPERIOR PROTECTION OVER SEALED, STAINED OR PAINTED WOOD.
Ionyx T1 for Stone & Wood scored an average 39.11 on the Taber Abraser test, scoring higher in resistance to wear than granite!
Ionyx T1 for Stone & Wood contain less than 100 g/L VOC and exceed SCAQMD Rule 1113 requirements, the highest air quality control standards in the country.
Contains no known carcinogens under Prop 65, California’s Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986.
INDOOR WOOD PRODUCTS:
• Under 100 VOCs • Acid Resistant • Non-Conductive
• UV Stable • Repels Water & Dirt • Creates Non-Toxic Surface
• Cleans Easily Without Harsh Chemicals • Protects from Graffiti
Ionyx T1 for Stone & Wood is easy to apply: spray on, roll on, or brush on. Dries fast and requires only a single coat (saving material, time and labor costs). Ionyx T1 for Stone & Wood seals out damaging agents that destroy the surface and structural integrity of wood trim, cabinetry. flooring and structures. Ionyx T1 for Stone & Wood can safety be used to preserve and maintain the life of historic buildings for future generations.
IONYX OUTDOOR WOOD PRODUCTS:
UV rays, weathering elements, oils, dirt, biological and chemical agents attack and etch into exposed surfaces relentlessly. Unlike traditional sealing methods that quickly wear out over more exposed areas, Ionyx Quick Seal & Enhance provides complete and consistent protection, day after day, for years to come. Semi-film forming sealant lets wood "breathe" while protecting from exterior moisture. Sealers do not protect against graffiti; choose a product to add graffiti protection.
Ionyx Multipurpose Sealer provides superior resistance to moisture, stains, mold, ice, and dirt. Transparent Ionyx Multipurpose is the sealer of choice for years of protection without changing surface appearance. Ionyx Multipurpose Sealer offers superior protection from the destructive forces of weather, UV, freeze/thaw, alkali, efflorescence, mold, dust, dirt and moisture. Semi-film forming sealant lets wood "breathe" while protecting from exterior moisture. Ionyx Multipurpose Sealer can be applied in both exterior and interior applications. Reapply to areas subjected to deep engravures or areas bordering remodeling or additions to extend coverage. Sealers do not protect against graffiti; choose a product to add graffiti protection.
COMPREHENSIVE PROTECTION: PREVENT CORROSION OF METAL IN CONTACT WITH TREATED WOOD
The corrosion of metals in contact with wood has been studied for over 80 years, and in most situations wood is not corrosive. Recently, however, the durability of fasteners in pressure- and preservative- treated wood has become a concern. Changes in legislation and certification in the United States, the European Union, and Australasia have restricted the use of chromated copper arsenate (CCA), which was previously the most extensively used waterborne wood preservative. Following these changes, several different wood preservatives have come to market which are much more corrosive than CCA.
Metal fasteners are an essential part of wood construction, and their use in preservative-treated wood cannot be avoided. three design considerations that will help prolong the service life of metals in wood: proper moisture management, proper use of nonmetallic coatings and barriers and avoiding mixed metals in construction. Our products address two of the three considerations.
Proper moisture management is the most important factor in reducing corrosion of metals in treated wood. If wood is kept dry, wood and fasteners can last for decades or more. In most cases, treated wood is used for structures because it is designed for use outdoors where exposure to moisture, fungi, mold and pests is inevitable. Ionyx T1 for Stone & Wood can maximize repellency and assist in drainage of rainwater to prevent moisture absorption by wood, keeping wood intact, making it less appealing and less susceptible to pests like carpenter ants that attack soft, moisture damaged wood, and repelling water to keep surfaces dry so that fungi and mold can't attach to a moist surface and grow.
Preventing moisture absorption helps prevent enviromental corrosion of metal components. Ionyx T1 for Stone & Wood performs an especially important function to prevent water uptake from end grains (which absorb 10x as much moisture as outer wood surfaces ) are present, and where fasteners are used to join ends together.
In addition to attack by environmental corrosion, metallic construction material is also susceptible to corrosive mechanisms from components used in the new types of wood treatments. These components can increase the corrosion of metallic construction material, normally a steel or zinc galvanized connector, through transport of cupric ions in a charge transfer reaction (transference from the preservative treated wood to metal) that oxidizes the metal fastener and reduces of the cupric ions orginally present in the preservative treated wood.
Ionyx T2 for Metal & Concrete has a high taber abrasion score of 39.11, making it scratch resistant , an important consideration when coating construction materials. While it is unlikely that one would coat individual screws before use, Ionyx T2 for Metal & Concrete makes sense when used to protect hinges, braces and larger metal construction materials prior to installation. In addition, post-construction use of Ionyx T2 for Metal & Concrete, along with small touch-ups of Ionyx T1 for Stone & Wood in areas exposed by installation of screws, creates a consistent barrier against corrosion and damage to wood.
Wood Coat Demonstration:
Ketchup, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Lemon Juice, Red Wine and Black Permanent Marker were smeared across a block of wood coated with Wood Coat and allowed to sit. The wood block was rinsed clean with water. The result: complete wood protection. No acidic etching, no staining, no water damage and no marks.
WHEN USING WOOD COAT FOR HARDWOOD FLOORING APPLICATIONS: Due to wide range of wood flooring variables, and to ensure consistent. successful results, this product is RECOMMENDED for Use By Experienced Applicators and Manufacturers only.
